Hi,\r\n\r\nThis is the Bearing mechanism lamp!\r\nIt's designed to create ever-changing light and shadow effects.\r\nYou can change the lamp shades to achieve this, and they come in different sizes.\r\nAdditionally, you can combine a big and a small lamp shade together for endless possibilities.\r\nThe lamp shades also turn around in opposite directions, creating multiple reflections on your walls.\r\nI have made different lamp shades to experiment with, so you can use only one or mix and match them together.\r\nDifferent colors give off unique effects, allowing you to customize the look.\r\nIf you don't like my lamp shades, you can easily make your own.\r\n\r\nIn total, I have 4 different (big and small) lamp shades now. Check out the pictures.\r\nYou can print them flat on your printer, then roll them up and put them in the base ring.\r\nI had to split each shade into two pieces because not all people have big printers.\r\nYou can connect these 2 parts with M3 bolts and nuts, or glue nail etc for a secure fit.\r\nAs an experiment, I also made some loose trees and animals that you can push in the rings instead of the lamp shade.\r\n\r\nThe light source is LED strips I got from a cheap USB light. Check out the picture.\r\nI used 2 of them in my example, but you can use up to 4 for more dramatic effects.\r\nThe LED strips are mounted on a bracket with a pivot point so you can adjust the angle.\r\nThis gives you even more experimental options.\r\nThese LED strips work on 5V, making it easy to set up.\r\n\r\nThis mechanism is powered by a small stepper motor and an Arduino board.\r\nThe Arduino script is very easy to modify, and I've included it with the stepper library and wiring schematic in the ZIP file.\r\nYou can change it easily to your own liking. Don't forget to shut off power to this little stepper after every move or it will get too hot and melt the plastic (use the "digitalWrite(IN1, LOW);\r\n digitalWrite(IN2, LOW);\r\n digitalWrite(IN3, LOW);\r\n digitalWrite(IN4, LOW);" commands).\r\nIn my case, the Arduino and stepper run on 12V.\r\n\r\nThe base of this model already includes a print support that you need to cut away afterwards. Check out the picture (it's the red parts).\r\n\r\nBeware: there are two different sizes of cylinders for the bearing part - check out the picture.\r\n\r\nI also made a video showcasing these light effects, but you'll need to download it first.\r\nUnfortunately, I had to compress it a lot because the file size was too big.\r\nIf you don't want to download the video, I've included plenty of pictures for you to check out.
