Hi, This is the Bearing Mechanism Lamp! It's designed to create ever-changing light and shadow effects. You can change the lamp shades to achieve this. The shades are interchangeable, and you can combine big and small ones together. The shades also rotate in opposite directions, creating endless different light reflections on your walls. I've created various lamp shades for experimentation purposes. You can use one shade or mix and match different ones. Different colors produce unique effects. If you don't like my shades, you can easily create your own. In total, I have four different lamp shades (big and small). Check out the pictures to see them in action. The shades can be printed flat on your printer and then rolled up and placed in the base ring. Due to size limitations, each shade had to be made in two pieces. You can connect these parts with M3 bolts and nuts or use glue for a more permanent solution. As an experiment, I've also included loose trees and animals that you can push into the rings instead of the lamp shade. Get creative! The light source consists of LED strips extracted from a cheap USB light. Two LED strips are used in my example, but you can utilize up to four if desired. The LED strips are mounted on a bracket with a pivot point, allowing for adjustable angles and more experimental options. These LED strips operate at 5V, making them easy to use. I've included pictures of the setup for your reference. This mechanism is powered by a small stepper motor and an Arduino board. The Arduino script is straightforward, and you can modify it to suit your preferences. Don't forget to kill power to the stepper after each move to prevent overheating. In my case, the Arduino and stepper run on 12V. Please note that the base of this model includes a print support that needs to be removed after printing. See the pictures for reference. Be aware that there are two different cylinder sizes available for the bearing part – check out the pictures for clarification. I've also created a video showcasing the light effects, but you'll need to download it first due to file size constraints. If you'd rather not download the video, I've included plenty of pictures to give you an idea of what this project can do.
