Bearing Grooving Jig

Bearing Grooving Jig

thingiverse

This DIY jig enables grinding a groove on a plain roller bearing using an abrasive wheel and die grinder equipment. It can be useful for extruder idler bearings, preventing filament misalignment. Inspired by ebay seller you2bay, this method is more precise than manual grinding. Ensure safety gear like glasses during the process. To create the jig, use openSCAD software and adjust parameters according to wheel diameter, boss size beneath wheel, and grinding wheel clearance. Print with 100% infill but note its limited usage as it's not steel. To use, bolt bearing on jig, clean bearing, adjust wheel sliding freely, grind in a pecking motion, and avoid overheating.
