New Design Contest Guidelines Announced! We're running a new design contest requiring all submissions to incorporate bearings in innovative ways, enabling the printable side of each submission to perform something cool, neat, funny, or novel. The previous magnet-focused contest was underwhelming due to poor timing and insufficient engagement; however, this time around we're providing more time and resources for a larger turnout. Please check your email, Fido, so I can deliver the money from the last contest. Special thanks to tmophoto ($15) and Bo L. ($50) for their contributions to the prize pool. Rules for participation are as follows: Submissions must be printable on a MakerBot; bearings of any size or style (such as skate bearings readily available at sports stores with dimensions 8mm ID, 22mm OD, and 7mm thickness) must be incorporated in an interesting manner. Submit your designs to Thingiverse by 5 PM CST on October 3rd and post a comment to this thread with the submission's link. The winner will receive a $50 voucher from the MakerBot store, and I will make my decision based heavily on user feedback. Multiple entries are permitted. Extra points will be awarded for submissions using licenses that allow derivatives or have no restrictions on use, as well as those providing generic .prt or .obj files along with the standard STL file.
