Bearing adapter for fillament support
thingiverse
I encountered issues with filament support on my 3D printer, resulting in occasional jams and missing layers. To resolve this, I initially tried a solution from "Sneakypoo" at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:235925, but it wasn't effective for me. Instead, I created an adapter for my PLA filament roll using two 6001 bearings (ExtD 28mm IntD 12mm), printed with PLA at a layer height of 0.1 mm and speed of 35. The nozzle temperature was set to 230°C for a smoother finish, and I utilized three fans: two large side fans and one on the extruder. As I have multiple rolls, I can easily remove and transfer the bearing adapter as needed. To demonstrate its functionality, I shared a video at http://youtu.be/XiOLHdobClM. The design was created in Solidworks 2013, saved as an STL file, repaired with Netfabb Basic 5.1, and sliced using Cura 14.03 before printing on my ThinkOcean 3D printer.
