Bearing (608) with Beads (Ikea Pyssla or Hama Ironing Beads)
thingiverse
A bearing with identical dimensions as the commonly used 608 (Outer Diameter: 22 mm, Inner Diameter: 8 mm, height: 7 mm). I'm using ironing beads (such as Hama or Ikea Pyssla) as rolling aids. The elastic ones don't perform well, it's better to use hard ones. Inspired by the frequently found BB-ball bearings, but I only had the beads on hand and needed a roll. Obviously, this is only suitable for light-duty applications, such as helping a spool holder, etc. This can be difficult to print due to overhangs. I went through several iterations and discovered that supports from the slicer don't provide any assistance. I added small tabs to remove - they serve as bridges. Also set to print with three perimeter layers, which worked for me (basically 100% infill, but no structure). To fill in the beads, a wooden skewer or tweezers are very helpful. Fill in a few beads, then hold tightly and add the rest through the opening. Tolerances are quite high to account for the not completely even beads. You can cut the supports before or after adding the beads. Please forgive the overlapping surfaces etc. of the model. Still relatively new to Blender and 3D modeling.
