In the United States, a beanie is a snug-fitting brimless cap created from three-sided panels of fabric stitched together at the center by a button and seamed around the edges. Typically made of cloth or felt, beanies can also be crafted from leather or silk. In certain areas of the US and parts of Canada, the term "beanie" refers to a knitted cap (often woolen), also known as a "stocking cap" or "toque."
