BCN3D++ Dual Bowden Extruder Unmatched Performance and Size Faster printing quality, faster prints, and bigger print areas have been our top priority in redesigning the original BCN3D+ dual extrusion head. Inspired by the outstanding work of altrome (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:406531) and my own Single Extruder Bowden design (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:419278), we've transformed the BCN3D++ into a behemoth with unparalleled capabilities, capable of printing up to X=245,Y=195,Z=240. To learn more about our single bowden version (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:419278) Instructions for Building the Dual Bowden Extruder Head: We've duplicated the concept from my original design, incorporating two separate motors on an external support. This new configuration enables better print quality, reduced print times, and larger build envelopes. Notably, we've trimmed down the dual head's width from 98mm to 76mm, squeezing in an extra 22mm of usable space. Furthermore, the spacing between extruders has been optimized from 43mm to a tighter 28mm arrangement. Our reengineered head now weighs merely 300gr - down from approximately 1,300gr - effectively halving the weight, significantly improving mechanical stability and smooth movement. A notable improvement is the increased print height of up to 240mm, offering even more room for creative expansion. In consequence, firmware settings require adjustment with the following updated parameters: // New maximum positions define X_MAX_POS = 245 define Y_MAX_POS = 195 define Z_MAX_POS = 240 Setting limits in the new system requires: x range 230 to 245, y from 190 to 195, and z travel ranging between 200mm up to the highest print zone (240). We achieved further space savings with redesigned Bowden couplers. They allow homing both extruders together, cutting out a redundant step. Accessibility has also been optimized by creating bolts-only modifications for fine-tuning adjustments. When printed from our design - though ABS may arrive next September and is temporarily printed from 5 mm - all changes aim at rapid deployment on Dual and single head versions within short timelines. It merely takes several minutes to swap one extruder assembly using these bolts while making it necessary to change the firmware naturally in any new settings you want with our latest version. Note that no external aluminium print may require later when possible after testing
