BBQ Ribs Trophy
thingiverse
I designed the BBQ Ribs Trophy specifically for my friend's annual cook-off party, but I decided to share its design online after people expressed interest in creating their own versions. This project is now complete, and I won't be modifying it or offering customizations for anyone else. The trophy consists of three separate pieces because I didn't want to build tall supports that would require printing ribs up high. Instead, you can print each piece with a raft and dense support directly from the build plate. Printing the flames on the base could be challenging, but the ghosting effect adds a unique touch to the design. Due to time constraints and material limitations, I had to settle for this look despite my initial dissatisfaction. The square base was designed with additional processes in S3D to allow for loose infill at the start and dense printing towards the end, resulting in a flat top face. The plate is left empty for you to add your own text or design elements. To create the trophy's base, I printed three layers of black on the bottom face before switching to gold and adding five solid layers on top. This helps seal the plate and any small details into one cohesive piece. You can find a helpful video on swapping filaments in S3D on YouTube by Jantzen Day. To assemble the trophy, I used Loctite Super Glue Ultragel Control.
