BB8 Greeble
thingiverse
I'm making progress with my full-sized BB-8 build. The piece you see here is the intricate part that goes behind the large eye. It's come out really well and looks great when attached to the eye itself. For added detail, an 80mm x 1mm skirt can be printed along with it. I've made a change since my first attempt at this piece was too short and didn't quite have the width I needed. This updated version sits higher up in the eye, which helps create a much more authentic look for BB-8. It's a great piece to work with because all of the parts are easily separated, making wiring simple and stress-free. You might notice that I've included three different versions - one is the same as before but larger, while another has the skirt attached to it for a sleeker appearance. If you prefer something even simpler, I've also provided a version without a skirt. One thing to note is that my goal in making this BB-8 model was to learn and grow by creating every part from scratch. There are definitely more accurate models out there already but my aim has always been to make improvements and challenge myself with new projects. Please keep in mind that these parts are still works in progress, and I'll continue updating them as I work on making sure everything fits perfectly into place on the actual prop. I used the following print settings: - Printer: Prusa i3 - Rafts: None
