The power awakens... this BB-8 prototype can stand on its own merit! The body is split into two distinct sections, allowing for easy modification of the infill to alter his center of gravity. By adjusting the infill density in each section, I was able to make him lean towards the heavier side. Two strategically placed magnets secure the head to the top portion. This BB-8 model consists of 9 carefully crafted files, designed specifically for FFF/FDM 3D printers. Each object is a self-contained manifold, ensuring watertight seals at every intersection. The use of boolean operations has created seamless connections between parts, minimizing the need for support material during printing. To further optimize the print process, I subdivided and pre-oriented each piece to fit within the print bed with minimal overhangs.
