Introducing a compact and modular design for the Multi-Function Reader Design challenge by Blackboard Transact, completed in just three days. The design features a sleek appearance with many functions combined aesthetically within the primary device. The core unit includes a touchscreen display, mag stripe card reader slot, contactless credential reader, camera, speaker, RJ45, and USB ports. It measures 7”x7” and can be mounted on countertops or walls with minimal hardware. Components and add-ons attach using plastic snap-action clips for easy servicing. Download the editable files locally to explore further configurations. The modular design allows for pieces to snap on and off, with additional options stacking on. The touchscreen display is 7” diagonal with a tilt range of over 150 degrees. Additional features include a front-facing camera, mag stripe reader, near field communication contactless reader, RJ45 network port, and USB port (with room for an additional within the base). Add-on options include a motion sensor, ADA peripherals like a microphone or Braille/Number pad, and a Micro SD slot. For added functionality, a printer or battery can be stacked vertically underneath the core unit. All RAW/editable Solidworks files are included, along with 2D drawings, renderings, and STEP files.
