BB Slingatron

BB Slingatron

I remember reading about Slingatron, a project that aims to prove whether sending objects into orbit is feasible using a spiral launcher. The idea revolves around having a very long 'barrel' in a compact space. As the object is propelled by a force, such as air pressure, it has ample time to continue accelerating. That's my simplified explanation of it... if you're genuinely interested, I recommend seeking out more information on your own. For me, Slingatron was an intriguing concept worth exploring for fun. Placing a BB into the funnel and blowing through it results in the BB exiting at a pretty decent pace. I connected mine to my air compressor without any issues, even with loose tolerances for the 'barrel', and they shot out with significant force. This is not a toy; it's designed for adults only. Do not shoot at others, yourself, or animals under any circumstances. Property damage may occur if you're careless. Be responsible. Update: I've created a second, much larger Slingatron that boasts over 3.2m worth of 'barrel'. The hole in the center allows you to hold it like a bagel or donut vertically and blow into the inlet to force the BB out. It's a bit more powerful and fun, but I'm moving away from air power for now.
