BB Fill Cap for Crosman 766 / 76X
thingiverse
The Crosman 766/76X BB/Pellet rifle has a movable cap on the end of the handgrip portion of the shoulder stock that moves to reveal a hole to load BBs. This THING consists of a replacement cap and attachment mechanism. This part may work with the current versions of the Crosman 76X series. Let me know if you need the .SKP files to modify. The attachment device can be printed with a 0.4 mm nozzle, but a smaller nozzle will result in less filing to make it fit the rails on the stock. The detent tab on the attachment piece has to be filed in both height and thickness to allow it to snap over the forward stop with reasonable force. Once the attachment mechanism functions correctly, the attachment piece is positioned on the stock in the closed position, and the cap is glued with epoxy. It may work best to position the stock so the cap is parallel to the ground while the epoxy cures, so that any epoxy that slumps out of the glue joint will end up in the cap, and NOT in the path of movement on the stock. The attachment can be positioned in two orientations. Test if fully to make sure you have oriented it so that the detent operates properly, and the BB hole is exposed fully when opened. Warning, the attachment piece may take a lot of filing to operate correctly. I printed the attachment device vertically with a 0.2mm layer height. The cap will look best with a layer height of 0.2 mm or less. I used a concentric pattern on the top layer of the cap to give it a somewhat cleaner look than the standard fill pattern.
