Bb Card Reader

Bb Card Reader

grabcad

This submission is for the Bb Card reader competition, featuring 3 LEDs above the top clear strip and 2 below. The LEDs indicate different functions such as basic operation in green, WiFi operation in blue, non-operational/error in red, and off in clear. Meanwhile, the bottom LED signals payment success in green or failure in red when used for magnetic strip reading or proximity detection, with clear indicating no activity. The design was initially hand-drawn and conceptualized in MOI3D before moving to ZW3D for parametric modeling of the card reader. While rendering methods are simple, the final model was exported back into MOI3D for an exploded view and orientation. Styling was inspired by contemporary phone designs, keeping components simple for injection molding. The entire project took 10 hours to complete over a span of 24 hours. The proposed handheld or slide-on stand measures 69mm x 115mm x 21.9mm, with the switch recessed to prevent accidental tampering. This challenge was undertaken as a personal time-constrained test to enhance design skills and identify areas for improvement in injection molding.
