Baubles - Print on fabric, fold in shape
prusaprinters
<p>These Christmas baubles are printed flat with a piece of fabric inserted after the first layer.</p><figure class="image image_resized" style="width:72.12%;"><img src="https://media.prusaprinters.org/media/prints/93790/rich_content/e7a77491-862e-43c9-a2c4-9a70ffb64527/compoflatprints_1200.jpg#%7B%22uuid%22%3A%225330b45b-e891-45ae-a945-617fa9614bdd%22%2C%22w%22%3A1200%2C%22h%22%3A900%7D"></figure><p>After the print, cut away the excess fabric and fold into shape. Tabs and grooves will keep it in place while you glue.</p><figure class="image image_resized" style="width:74.16%;"><img src="https://media.prusaprinters.org/media/prints/93790/rich_content/dc42c4c9-523f-4d23-818d-89e985952dc4/img_20211212_155706_1600.jpg#%7B%22uuid%22%3A%2245a5df6f-e798-4ece-a124-f4ec19ed514d%22%2C%22w%22%3A1600%2C%22h%22%3A886%7D"></figure><p>If you don't use the 3mf files, add a pause after the first layer, when you will add the fabric. Hold the fabric in place with small magnets all around. If you don't have magnets, you can use adhesive tape too.</p><figure class="image image_resized" style="width:74.23%;"><img src="https://media.prusaprinters.org/media/prints/93790/rich_content/bd5999b2-c971-4c15-96fe-3e78f8ed124b/dsc01709_1200.jpg#%7B%22uuid%22%3A%2236d87062-537b-40ab-88f0-d78504eedb36%22%2C%22w%22%3A1200%2C%22h%22%3A800%7D"></figure><p>For these prints I used organza, it's delicately transparent and reflective, and the plastic bonds really well to it.</p><p>I also added a little hole where you can insert a 3mm led mounted on a printed 6mm tube.</p><p>The print is easy, no support, set the perimeters high enough so that there is no infill (5 or 6 perimeters). I also slowed down the first layer after the fabric to 20mm/s, it may help the bonding.</p><p>Because it is no more than 3-4mm high, each bauble takes about 1h to print. One of the great benefits of printing on fabric, you get nice big volumes with very fast prints!</p><p> </p><p>Notes :<br> - the dodecahedron must be scaled down to about 94% to fit on an MK3 bed.<br> - [Done] I will cut in parts the models that don't fit on smaller plates. I'll upload them here soon.</p><p>[EDIT]<br> - Added stl files for the dodecahedron, cut in two parts that fit on the Prusa Mini.<br> - Added stl file for the octahedron that fits on the Mini (same size, different pattern)</p><p> </p><p>Enjoy! I'll be happy to see your makes!</p><p>Happy Holidays, and happy printing!</p>
