BattleTech Ostroc Combining multiple MWO models resulted in the creation of this 'Mech. According to game lore, the Ostroc, Ostsol, and Ostwar shared common engineering, production, and parts. To reflect this, I used the same parts for the torso, pelvis, upper arms, and thighs for all three 'Mechs while giving them individual heads, forearms, calves, and feet. The weapons are a mix of some shared models but with each 'Mech's main weapons being more unique. I've also included a "paddle-hand" variant. Check the notes on the Sarna.net entry for details. I developed a process of reinforcing the raw MWO models before many other creators started investing their time and effort (thank you). I first weld all the vertices of each part before exporting them from my 3D software. Then, I use Windows 3D Builder to add boxes, spheres, and cylinders in places where the Cura slicer runs into issues with the 3MF file. I merge everything together before exporting to STL files. It's a bit of a cheat, but it works for my purposes. I originally printed these models using a Robo3D R1+ with a 0.2mm nozzle and Hatchbox filament. Recently, I've been testing them on an Anycubic Photon. The antennae do not print well or at all. I usually replace them post-print with some 1.75mm filament. I also print my miniatures slightly smaller. The 6mm files should be close to commercial BT minis. The 5mm files are my scaling, which is 30mm + tonnage/10. So a 60t Ostroc is around 36mm from the bottom of the feet to the top of the head/shoulder. This scale works better with the terrain I use for Assault 'Mechs while not making light 'Mechs tiny. I also split my own miniatures into separate upper and lower halves, then press or glue in a 1/8 or 1/16 magnet to hold them together. This allows the mini to show torso twisting during play. The black cylinder in the 3MF file represents the magnet, which I subtract from the other models before exporting. Most 'Mechs still require some work post-printing with a same-sized drill to get the magnets to fit. Please feel free to modify or remix (for non-commercial use).
