BattleTech Math Wheel

BattleTech Math Wheel

I built a wheel to simplify tracking gunnery numbers in BattleTech, eliminating the need for constant reference sheet checks. The top section represents the attacker's actions during each turn, with stationary positions marked by the blank space next to 'Walked', aligning with the tabs on the bottom that show how far the target moved. Three open spaces on the wheel correspond to short, medium, and long ranges, providing clear shot values up to +3. One image shows both attacker and defender remaining still, while another depicts the attacker moving while the defender shifts 3-4 hexes or vice versa. This tool functions perfectly with BattleTech's default gunnery score of 4+, serving as an efficient counter. Rotating the wheel one position to the right or left increases or decreases the given numbers by one, respectively. In our games, we've found it easy and quick to use these wheels to calculate standard shots, then mentally adjust for differences in gunnery skill. For optimal use, print the wheel with white plastic and darken the grooves with a pencil; paint hasn't worked well for me.
