Battletech Mad Dog (old style)
thingiverse
Human: EDIT: For some reason Thingiverse hasn't properly created thumbnails/thingiviews since my last reupload, but the files are all working just fine. Well, there's a story behind this one. I actually created this model in the late 90s - one of my first 3D models. I recently rediscovered it while going through old files still at my parents' house. This is my interpretation of the Mad Dog as it appears on the box art and cutscenes of the Mechwarrior 2 series, as well as the very early "plastech" miniatures, which were my references at the time. Since then, the depiction of this 'mech has evolved, and while I love the newer takes on it, I still have a soft spot for this version. Originally modeled in the now-defunct Caligari trueSpace, I imported it into modo and reconstructed as single-shell pieces with no overlaps so it would be printer friendly. To my surprise, it printed just fine on an Ender 3 fdm printer at a scale comparable to the latest Battletech minis (which you should be getting - they are fantastic!). It should scale up just fine to larger sizes. I've resisted the urge to add more details; that's not the point. This is the model as I made it 20+ years ago, with some minor changes to fix topology problems. I did make some changes to the launchers and had to remodel the "ankles" which were really a stuck-together mush of shapes. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy. Go crush the Inner Sphere or the Jade Falcon surats. Edit on 8/18/19: The feet were very slightly (almost imperceptibly) pigeon-toed; that is now fixed. Also added a plain hex base for map play.
