Human: Interlocking hexes for building 3D landscapes are designed to be used in board games such as Battletech. # Shapes A variety of shapes is included, each based on a hex size of 2 inches at the base and a height of 6 mm. The following shapes are available: ### Single Hex Good for foothills, zero height hexes are mostly good for color like water, grass, fire/lava, or desert. * Height 0 - Good for ground cover like trees or water (Hex-1x1-H0.stl) * Height 1 (Hex-1x1-H1.stl) * Height 2 (Hex-1x1-H2.stl) ### Line Good for mountain ranges. * Height 1 (HexLine-4x1-H1.stl) * Height 4 (HexLine-4x1-H4.stl) ### Triangle Good for elevating a large area or conversely creating a depressed area for water or a canyon. * 2X2 Height 1 (HexTriangle-2x2-H1.stl) * 3X3 Height 1 (HexTriangle-3x3-H1.stl) * 3X3 Height 3 (HexTriangle-3x3-H3.stl) * 4X4 Height 1 (HexTriangle-4x4-H1.stl) * 4X4 Height 2 (HexTriangle-4x4-H2.stl) * 4X4 Height 4 (HexTriangle-4x4-H4.stl) ### Water This two-part piece includes a flat bottom part (Base) and an outside ridge (Rim) that simulates where the top of the water is, yet allows mechs to sit down in the water for a more realistic line of sight. * 4X1 Line Base (HexWater-4x1-H0.stl) * 4X1 Line Rim (HexWater-4x1-H1.stl) * 4X2 Thick Line Base (HexWater-4x2-H0.stl) * 4X2 Thick Line Rim (HexWater-4x2-H1.stl) Note: The bridge shown in the pictures is a separate part (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2814838). # Printing Printing requires a brim for better platform adhesion, and since quality isn't as important as speed, go with the largest layer height you can do. In my case, I went with .3 mm layer height. I made all walls .8mm to optimize the print for my .4mm extruder nozzle so that it only needs two passes. Given all that, with a speed of 60mm/s, it took 15 minutes for a single hex, ~2.75 hours for HexTriangle-4x4-H1.stl and ~5 hours for the really large print: HexTriangle-4x4-H4.stl.
