A Print-in-Place Battleship features gun turrets that rotate freely once they break free from printing. Standard-sized battleships measure 11cm in length and take approximately 90 minutes to print on a Replicator 2, while they require about 2 hours to print on a 5th Generation Replicator using 24gm of filament. This design has been thoroughly tested on a variety of machines including the Replicator 2 / 5th Generation Replicator and Z18. As such, it is expected that most PLA printers equipped with a filament fan will produce a great result. However, achieving similar results with ABS may be more complicated due to the low angle of the gun barrels at 60 degrees from vertical. Print-in-Place models are highly sought after for their ability to create one-piece prints with moving parts that are built inside each other. This design is another excellent example of this concept, making it possible to print a single battleship or an entire fleet. UPDATE: An updated version featuring fixed turrets has been made available in the 'Fixed' .stl file format for users who experience difficulties with the turrets moving during printing. This may be caused by issues with slicing applications and/or machines that struggle to handle the required level of detail needed to produce well-printed turrets. Please carefully read through the instructions before attempting to print this design. Note: Viewers interested in this model are also encouraged to explore other designs available on the platform.
