Yamato, the lead ship of Japan's Yamato class battleships in World War II, was an engineering marvel and the largest and most powerful battleship ever built. Commissioned after the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941, it served as the flagship of the Japanese Combined Fleet throughout 1942. Though designed to counterbalance the US's numerically superior fleet, Yamato never fought against them. It was ordered for a kamikaze mission to Okinawa in April 1945 and sunk by American bombers, with most of its crew perishing. The model is based on blueprints, photos, and historical documentation, created with precision and real units of measurement. LightWave 2015 was used for modeling, texturing, and setup. Animation controls are available for various elements like guns, turrets, searchlights, and propellers. Only flags and grids have UV maps; other materials use planar or cubic texture maps. Basic textures are included, but no UV texturing is present (except for flags and grids).
