Battle Droid 400!
thingiverse
I love the great detail that metaform3d put into his awesome 1/4 scale Battle Droid, but why so small? I scaled it up a huge 400%. I printed the head and found that it was totally amazing! It took an incredible 400 hours and 4+ rolls of plastic to print this MASSIVE build. This behemoth will stand on its own if it is leaning up against a wall, but I made a sturdy wooden stand that used velcro to hold it to the back firmly in place. When the backpack is added, I'll scale and print it too. UPDATE: 11/30 I want to say BIG thanks to metaform3d for adding the backpack - what a game-changer! I have sized it up a massive 400% and sliced it for printing on a Replicator 5th. I haven't printed it yet, so I haven't tested if it needs support turned on or not. But from the looks of it, they won't need any support at all. If you want to add the 2 antennas at full size, I plan to use sturdy wooden dowels. I don't have a great blaster file yet, but I've found a few and I'm testing them to see what scale I need to get them up to make them fit perfectly. As metaform3d said before... Legal Note This is an original creation based on designs from the movies - totally not owned by me or metaform3d. The design presumably belongs to LucasFilm and Disney. Instructions Assemble the pieces with a super-strong glue. Use clamps to hold the parts together until it's ready, holding everything in place. Here's the cool part: I used powerful Neodymium magnets to hold the joints together, allowing them to move freely and come apart for easy transport. Some of the parts are uploaded in both Hollow and solid - your choice! I used hollow at this size for less plastic waste. You'll be able to print many of the parts without support, but your mileage may vary. NAMING CONVENTION The part name is first, then the side - R (R for right L for left as you face it from the front), and if there's multiple parts, a number will follow, e.g., 1st part name = shin_400.
