BatteryMag - 14x AA Dispenser
thingiverse
Introducing a cutting-edge portable solution for storing and dispensing batteries, the BatteryMag! Designed to resemble and function like a standard rifle magazine, this compact device holds up to 14 AA batteries. It works exceptionally well for keeping extra gadget batteries in your pack, without them bouncing around. In addition to the 4 printed parts, you will need to salvage the spring from a standard capacity (30 round) AR-15 magazine (I have successfully used springs from standard metal mags, PMAGs, and HexMags). Alternatively, purchase one online for just a few dollars, such as this one for $3: http://www.brownells.com/magazines/rifle-magazines/magazine-parts/magazine-springs/30-round-spring-ss-sku078000109-41777-46685.aspx Update January 30th, 2017: For individuals with smaller printers, shorter bodies are available here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2073792 Print Settings Printer: XYZPrinting DaVinci 1.0A Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 100% Notes: Print the body, floorplate, and spring base without supports. Print the follower with supports. All .STL files are already oriented in their optimal printing orientation. Post-Printing Print the parts. Deburr the parts. Ensure the follower fits into the body and slides smoothly. Ensure the spring base fits inside the body. Insert the magazine spring into the hollow bottom of the follower. Push the follower and spring into the body. Insert the spring base into the spring and body. Slide the floorplate onto the body, to retain the internals. Optionally, put a #6 button head wood screw into the hole on the bottom of the spring base. This will help prevent the floorplate from sliding off accidentally. To remove the floorplate with the spring installed (and magazine empty), simply push the screw and spring base in far enough to allow the floorplate to slide.
