Battery Powered Year-Round Weather Station

Battery Powered Year-Round Weather Station

An ESP8266-based weather station powered by a single 18650 lithium cell charge lasts for months. A BMP280 records temperature, humidity, and pressure readings accurately. Living where winter temperatures plummet below -20C means solar charging outdoors is not an option, except with supercapacitors. Instead, I designed the system to operate at any temperature (-40C to 85C), requiring only occasional battery swaps. This weather station has endured extreme winds, subzero temperatures, heavy rain, and snow without issue. It's also budget-friendly, making replacing damaged circuitry a cost-effective option. Once the PCB is attached to its mounting plate, and the mounting plate is secured to an outdoor surface, everything can be easily removed and reassembled tool-free. Servicing or firmware updates are a breeze when you simply slide the weather station off its mounting plate.
