Battery Powered LED Flame Bulb Lantern
thingiverse
This project involves a fusion of cutting-edge technologies: laser cutting, 3D printing, and circuitry. Requirements: - 2.9mm thick sheets: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CJY7JK5 - Two sets of battery contacts (negative and positive): https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HRSJ6NX/ - Other sizes may also work. - One LED flame bulb: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YC8DH7Z - I recommend this particular maker's bulbs because they have three light modes that still function after clipping the AC DC converter. - One rocker switch: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B2S5QYN - Four wires, roughly 5" or 130mm long and 22-24 gauge thick Optional: Two sheets of vellum paper - I used an M3 adhesive spray to apply the paper - Two AA batteries Instructions: 1. 3D print the base and battery cover - No support needed if using the version with support. 2. Strip and solder each wire to a battery contact - two negatives and two positives. 3. Install a set of contacts to each side of the base in the battery slots. 4. Remove the bottom of the LED flame bulb and snip off the AC DC converter. 5. Solder the LED wires and switch to the battery contacts in series. 6. Cut out the laser cut files using LaserWeb, a free open-source CNC program - or extrude them by 2.9mm and 3D print them. 7. Cut and glue some vellum paper to the panels using the outlines from the laser cut files for perfect cuts. 8. Assemble everything together - see pictures
