I made this battery pack for my friend's hunting radio. The batteries inside were terrible. It wouldn't have been fun to buy a new one though. The original pack holds six R03/AAA cells. This box is built to hold six R6/AA cells instead. You can see the original pack in some of these pictures. I welded the new batteries together, and installed the same type of thermostat that's used in the original model. The top part of this box is meant to be glued on once the batteries are all set up inside. I cut out two small pieces from a brass plate to serve as contacts and then soldered some wires between them and the batteries. To make sure there's no electrical short, I included an insulating board just in case it was needed - but since the batteries fit snugly together anyway, it might not even be necessary. This was my very first attempt at making something 3D from scratch, and to be honest, the box doesn't look all that great. Still, it works perfectly for its intended purpose and slides right in and out of the radio like the original. My friend has used it nonstop for several months now without a single problem.
