Battery holder for Siemens RDE 20.1 thermostat
thingiverse
I have two Siemens RDE 20.1 thermostats for underfloor heating at my place, and unfortunately, the previous occupants removed and discarded the battery holder, leaving me without underfloor heating. I searched online for spare parts but realized the product is no longer supported due to being end-of-life. To solve this problem, I designed a small battery holder using a 3D printer without having the original part. To make my life easier, I bought a pack of LED lights from a dollar store that had an AAA-sized battery holder, allowing me to reuse the battery connection pads with some string. I also purchased office pins from the same store and used them to create the connector part for the thermostat unit. After printing, I removed the print support material, cleaned the part, inserted the pads, and attached the connector. The thermostat is now back in action. My custom holder has a small handle that serves two purposes: it allows me to pull out the battery case and also unlock the small springy lock.
