While there's still room for improvement, I reverted to my initial design (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2537) and removed unnecessary components. I then arranged the pieces to avoid pressure along the "layer" lines, which should result in a stronger product. The revised version appears cleaner, uses less material, and hopefully, will be more practical and durable. As always, the SKP file is available for modifications. This updated (v4) design includes: overhang correction, merged battery end tabs for better grip, additional holes for contact positions, and two parts that can be screwed or glued together. However, note that this design remains untested. To assemble, insert a stiff wire through the base's holes and hook it over the springs to create the contacts.
