Battery for old 12V SKIL drill/driver tool
thingiverse
I own an old SKIL 12V power tool that's been with me for over two decades now. The trusty NiMH batteries finally gave out, and I couldn't find any decent replacements - new ones were too pricey, and used packs from eBay just didn't inspire confidence. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create a custom Lithium 18650 replacement battery with a 3D-printed housing that perfectly matches the tool's original connector. The heart of this project is a compact 3s2p 18650-cell battery pack featuring an affordable balancing BMS. The real genius, however, lies in the clever design of the battery pack itself - it uses the 3D-printed structure to create a spring-loaded mechanism that securely contacts each individual battery cell without needing any spot welding or soldering. Connection is made with simple screws and inexpensive copper wire.
