Battery Cover Sony Camera
thingiverse
In airplane luggage, loose lithium batteries are only allowed when they're safely contained in suitable packaging. This rule is in place because the battery contacts could potentially cause a short-circuit. The standard battery itself doesn't come with an enclosure - unless you happen to have non-standard batteries like I do, but those cardboard containers are too bulky for my camera holster bag. That's why I decided to create my own custom packaging, and since then, about a year ago, I've been using them on multiple flights without any issues during customs declarations. This design truly puts the precision of your 3D printer to the test, as the covers are designed to securely hold onto the battery solely by friction. In fact, the tolerance is so tight that I had to make an air vent hole for airflow. If you'd like to adjust the tolerances, feel free to do so - I've included the FreeCad file.
