This is a replacement battery compartment door for a SimlpleHuman(tm) garbage can with motion sensor to open lid. The can uses four D cells in two groups of two, and this door will retain two of the batteries. I reused the battery contact spring off of the old door by carefully coaxing or cutting it out of the old lid. It fits nice and snug into this new one. I tried to get a "lip" to print as a retainer for the spring, but the feature did not print despite being in the STL file. The ridges that are present in the medium quality print work nicely to hold the spring in place. Rev2: I made several modifications to the design: 1) I changed the shape of the spring to a parabola, which is much better than the original and seems likely to last for many uses without concerns about brittleness. 2) The lever end is no longer flush with the housing when installed, giving a nice gap to get hold of the spring end so it's easier to open. 3) The anchor arms are now nicely curved for aesthetic appeal, although the original design worked just fine. 4) I narrowed the "bridge" between the two main discs so it fits in place more easily. Print Settings: Printer: Dremel 3D20 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 50% Notes: I built a few supports into the model, as they were needed in several places. Most are easily snapped off, but two near the spring will need to be clipped off with a flush cutter. I designed it in OpenSCAD and used PLA for the print, resulting in a "spring" that is a little on the brittle side.
