Here's an updated version of my miniature battery box designed for small boats, now compatible with many ATVs and motorcycle batteries. This design focuses on weight reduction while still allowing users to power a radio or fishfinder in aluminum vessels. I've chosen the compact backup battery from high-end luxury sedans as the basis for this project, specifically the 12V 12Ah 200A unit from Mercedes part number 0009829608. You can find more information on this component online at https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/0009829608.htm?pn=000-982-96-08-MBZ. The design features holes for wire inputs, a low-cost digital voltage gauge available at https://www.amazon.ca/Etopars-4-5V-30V-Digital-Display-Voltage/dp/B07519VM9H/ref=sr_1_14?keywords=voltage+gauge&qid=1561308344&s=gateway&sr=8-14, and a standard 1/2" toggle switch. Users can also choose from various lid designs available on Thingiverse, including https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3702201, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3709401, and https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3707534. To achieve optimal performance, the design is slightly taller than its predecessor and should be printed using PETG with high infill or TPU at normal settings. PLA may become too soft in warm temperatures, leading to distortion.
