Battery Adapter - AA to C - Type 1
prusaprinters

There are any number of 3D print files for AA battery to C battery adapters, but none of them appealed to me. I wanted an adapter which would print quickly, use a minimum amount of material, and not require a brim or supports. In trying various designs, I realized that there is no need for the adapter to be round when it is being used in a cylindrical container - it just needs to center the AA battery in the holder (this Type 1 adapter may not work in some types of battery holders - see Type 2 for an alternative).

The resulting triangular shape is designed to be slightly smaller on the inside than an AA battery so it "clamps" onto the battery; the assembly then just drops into the holder for the C cells (see photos).

The OnShape 3D CAD files for this are available here:

https://cad.onshape.com/documents/04dbdf9915a1b696ce1b3767/w/c523d9d4a1d3345313ae0fcd/e/131f016e019205be5e0caa2f

Print instructions

Print flat on one side. I used PLA .3mm layers for fastest printing - it doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to work.

The provided 3mf file will print two adapters, one at a time, in about 26 minutes.
