Baton de commandement with carved horse heads (plaster cast) was discovered in France, its exact location unknown. This artifact dates back to the Upper Paleolithic period, spanning from approximately 23,000 to 12,000 years ago. It is crafted from antler material, with dimensions measuring 165.0 mm in length, 90.5 mm in width, and 19.7 mm in thickness. The specimen bears catalog number 509m21. It was acquired by James Bell Bullitt during his 1929 tour of western Europe, later donated to the University of North Carolina. Currently housed at the North Carolina Archaeological Collection, Research Laboratories of Archaeology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, this artifact serves as a model for Chloe Scattergood's work.
