Batman has been an enduring American comic book series centered around DC Comics' iconic superhero, Batman, as its driving force since the start. Initially, the character burst onto the scene in Detective Comics #27 (May 1939), which paved the way for a solo, self-titled ongoing series launching in Spring 1940 after making a big splash. The initial launch of the Batman comic book came out quarterly at first but later transformed into a bimonthly publication throughout the late 1950s and beyond, solidifying its monthly status since then. As DC Comics' continuity got rebooted with The New 52 in September 2011, the original Batman series concluded and kicked off a brand new starting point. Two years ago, in August 2016, DC Comics revamped their entire lineup with a relaunch called DC Rebirth. With this massive overhaul, a refreshed volume three of Batman took flight as issue #1, making it a prominent debut of the comic book series all over again.
