Trieste, a Swiss-designed and Italian-built deep-diving research bathyscaphe, reached a record maximum depth of approximately 10,911 metres (35,797 ft) in the Challenger Deep - Earth's deepest known ocean part within the Mariana Trench near Guam. On January 23, 1960, the vessel, piloted by Jacques Piccard and US Navy Lieutenant Don Walsh, completed Project Nekton's goal, becoming the first manned craft to reach Challenger Deep's bottom. Trieste was created using Rhinoceros 5 and rendered with KeyShot 6.
