Bathtub Overflow Drain Cover
thingiverse
The overflow drain in our bathtub had long since given up the ghost, its metal exterior rusting away to reveal a gaping hole that left nothing to the imagination. I decided to take matters into my own hands and craft a solution that would not only cover up this unsightly eyesore but also provide a seamless finish that would withstand the test of time. To ensure a rock-solid attachment, I opted for two-part epoxy, carefully applying it to the tub's surface in a smooth, even layer. A small cutout was left to facilitate water flow, guaranteeing uninterrupted drainage and preventing any potential issues down the line. With my creation taking shape, I turned my attention to achieving a high-gloss finish that would not only complement our bathroom decor but also withstand daily wear and tear. To achieve this level of refinement, I resorted to using a specialized casting product, carefully applying it with a brush to create a super-smooth surface. Once dry, I gave the cover a coat of silver metallic paint, taking care to apply it evenly and avoiding any imperfections that might detract from its overall appearance. The next day, I repeated this process, casting the cover once more and leaving me with a surface so smooth, it seemed almost impossible to scratch off.
