Bathroom light fixture, wall mount
thingiverse
I created this unique bathroom feature through a combination of my design skills and access to 3D printing technology.\nThe materials needed are readily available at most hardware stores or online.\nFirst and foremost, two white porcelain sockets will be required: http://www.homedepot.ca/product/white-porcelain-socket/919458\nDo not worry about the metal part that typically connects to a pipe screw - it's unnecessary in this setup.\nAdditionally, you'll need to purchase two LED light bulbs with 40W or 60W wattage: http://www.lighting.philips.com/main/prof/lamps/led-lamps-and-systems/led-lamps/master-ledbulb/929000248232_EU/product\nDo not even consider using traditional incandescent bulbs, as they will likely overheat and melt the 3D printed plastic.\nYou'll also require four plastic wall plugs with screws, two push-in wire connectors, and a sufficient supply of Super Glue to bond the cover pieces.\nThe base cover must be printed with support material to ensure it turns out correctly; however, the rest of the parts can be produced without any supports.\nAn exacto knife will be necessary for trimming excess plastic and facilitating a precise fit.\nI made use of glow-in-the-dark plastic when printing the green components.\nTo ensure safe installation, I highly recommend consulting with a licensed electrician if you're unsure about proceeding.\nBefore tackling this project, invest in a non-contact voltage tester: http://reviews.canadiantire.ca/9045/0520085P/gardner-bender-circuit-alert-non-contact-voltage-tester-reviews/reviews.htm\nWhen wiring the light, mark one of the wires with red tape to distinguish it as the "hot wire." This is a vital step, and I've documented my process here: http://inspectapedia.com/electric/0612s.jpg\nFor those who are interested, my printing settings included using the Mendel90 printer, no rafts, supports only for the base cover, 0.3 resolution, and 25% infill.\nOnly the Base Cover needs support during the 3D printing process; the rest of the parts do not require any support material to be printed correctly.
