This is a life-size replica of the batbomb tested during World War II. The "bomb" contained hundreds of bats equipped with small incendiary devices. These bats would have taken up residence in Japan where the bombs would detonate, marking an innovative approach to ending the war. However, the nuclear bomb ultimately proved a more cost-effective option, leading to the cancellation of Project X-Ray and the batbomb project.
