BAT 120mm recoilless rifles (British)
thingiverse
This offering showcases the evolution of British anti-tank recoilless rifles, designed post-war to replace the 17-pdr anti-tank gun at a scale of ~1:38 (scaled up by 49.5% in Cura for better accuracy). The series began with the BAT (Battalion Anti-Tank) gun, followed by the lighter MOBAT equipped with a 7.62 Bren spotting rifle, and the lightweight WOMBAT featuring a 0.5" spotter. To create the CONBAT, the spotting device was mounted on the MOBAT. These guns are infamous for their intense back-blast and deafening firing noise, but they were highly effective. The angled shield only appeared on the original BAT gun. These models are simple yet fascinating; I've taken some creative liberties due to the lack of good drawings, but I've done my best to stay true to the designs. Starting from scratch, I used 3D Builder as my design tool. The towing hooks need improvement and might require replacement. To assemble the guns, it's most efficient to split them in two lengthwise and print each half flat on the printer bed. Then, use superglue to assemble the pieces by gluing one end first, followed by the other and intermediate areas rather than all at once. I plan to publish a variant of a Series III Land Rover fitted with the WOMBAT in portee mode soon. I hope these models spark some interest. Enjoy!
