A thumbrest for my friends' Musicman fretless bass. I've tried to make the code modular, so hopefully it's easy to adapt for other instruments too! The main "length" variable (dX), is as measured in the picture: the center of the screw to the edge of the pickup (so it's not the total length!) It uses one screw and double-sided tape. The current version is now being tested, so it may still be a work in progress. Note that this only takes advantage of one screw; (we really didn't want to do any destructive mods to the bass), so the idea is to use double-sided tape in addition to the one screw.
