Basketball with inset filament

This is a decorative basketball. Print the two halves, insert pegs into the alignment holes, and glue together.

The grooves are designed to fit a 1.75mm filament. You can glue filament in place to emphasize the lines. You could also try color the grooves in with black marker or paint.

The grooves were tuned to for printing with a 0.8mm nozzle on my machine. I can't guarantee that the grooves will fit a filament well with your machine and nozzle.

Recommendations:

Set bottom layers to 0 for the basketball halves. Exposed infill could actually help the glue adhere the halves together.

Print the pegs with a brim to ensure they don't get dislodged.

Bend the inset filament into shape before gluing into place.

Glue in the filament in steps.

Consider tacking the filament in place with superglue before gluing the rest down. I used E6000 and it was a bit messy. E6000 acted as a kind of lubricant before it sets up, so the filament popped out the groove and slid around. I had to hold the filament in place with a hair band and toothpicks until it set up.
