The concept behind Basic Trailer Project is to enable users to create their own unique trailer designs by combining standard parts. This project is constructed using screws and nuts, allowing for easy modification, upgrade, repair, or disassembly to build something entirely new. To optimize the print fit for your printer, simply rotate and adjust the objects as needed. Here are various coupling parts you can utilize to design an ordinary trailer, semitrailer, dolly, or any other configuration you envision. Does that 3D-printed fifth wheel actually function? Absolutely! It is fully compatible with Tamiya's fifth wheel and kingpin. To illustrate the assembly process of the fifth wheel, I have created a short video. Although it may appear complex, it is actually quite straightforward. A small tension spring holds the latch in place when closed, while a lever facilitates its opening. An M4 threaded rod passes through mounting holes, supported by a spring that causes it to flip backward upon activation. For reference, please see the following link: https://youtu.be/tMUgQTsup7E The necessary components include: M3 assortment with screws of varying lengths, along with washers and nuts (square options are also recommended). M4 assortment featuring screws of different lengths, accompanied by washers and nuts (square options are also suggested). An M4 threaded rod. Small self-tapping screws for additional support. A spring assortment, which includes two springs required for the fifth wheel assembly. I possess a few spring assortments and can typically create functional parts with minimal cutting and bending adjustments.
