Update on the base: I've moved the outside screws closer to the mount. A new base has been created with screw points located inside the base. I've also added a top cover for a resistor pot, which may accommodate an encoder as well. I needed a switch for an LED light above my desk. With a stash of these small rectangular switches, I designed a compact box with a mounting system for the switch. It took some time to get it right, as the alignment of various parts seemed to shift each time I made changes. I'm learning that every component in 3D printing is interconnected. Switch opening dimensions are 12.5mm by 20mm and it's designed specifically for a 21mm deep switch. If you spot any issues, please let me know so I can address them promptly.
