Basic Puppet Mouthplates
thingiverse
I design standard mouthplates for puppets by combining printed parts with gaffer's tape at the straight edge end, achieving excellent results with flexible materials. To create a fixed jaw, I print and assemble these plates using tape; alternatively, I opt for a more movable "floating jaw" without tape to allow for hinges. Next, I cover both sides of the mouthplate with felt or similar material used in puppet mouths, securing it in place with hot glue. Finger-holds are then added to the back, while details like tongues, teeth, and other features are attached to the front side. Finally, the finished mouthplate is glued securely into the foam head of the puppet.
