This is a basic remake of the printable spool holder by JadeKnight3066 I'm enjoying designing in OpenScad, so I've converted the design over. I plan on using wooden dowels as they seem like the most affordable option. I find this construction method interesting, thinking it could be applied to other projects like bottle holders and shelves for plastic boxes. Improvements I'd make include: a symmetrical joint between the two sockets for a more attractive look redesigning the top sockets to allow them to sit flush and change easily a potential widget to guide filament through for cleaning before printing, essential since I dropped a reel on the garden floor, so it needs extra care Instructions It's straightforward. You'll need three left-handed parts and three right-handed parts, along with some dowel stock. I purchased 9mm doweling from Homebase but it measured between 8.4 and 8.75mm due to its rounder appearance. I designed the print with a nominal 9mm diameter and achieved a snug fit without further adjustments. Setting the angle at 60 degrees and creating pieces of consistent length worked well, except for one test piece made with a socket depth of three times the rod's diameter – two seems sufficient for smaller parts. On my Ormerod printer, it took roughly half a day to print all the necessary components.
