The primary objective of the Basic Oxygen Steelmaking (BOS) process is to transform hot metal from the blast furnace into raw liquid steel, which can then be further refined in the secondary steelmaking shop. The main roles of the Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) are to remove carbon and phosphorus from the hot metal while adjusting the steel temperature for efficient treatment prior to casting with minimal reheating or cooling requirements. Exothermic oxidation reactions during BOS produce a significant amount of heat energy, exceeding what is needed to achieve the target steel temperature. This excess heat is utilized to melt scrap and/or iron ore additions. Model ID: PR00302
