Create a versatile CNC controller computer cart with aluminum extrusions for easy reconfiguration and adaptability. The base frame is formed using Misumi 5-series extrusions, with four HFS5-2020-320 costing $1.82 each, another four of the same priced at $2.96, and four HFS5-404020-920 at $13.99. Eight HBLFSSW5 angle brackets are also required at $2.85 each, resulting in a subtotal of $97.88. For the caster, a custom bracket is used to mount the M12 threaded mount onto the 404020 extrusions. HSGN75-12-N casters are added at $6.50 each for four, along with a 4" x 4" aluminum sheet and a box of M5 1" countersunk screws. The subtotal including casters is $137.88. The top is designed to be made from laminated wood, with options for pre-made tops available from Grizzly. Misumi brackets or other suitable alternatives can be used to mount the top. A box of M5 caphead screws and economy nuts for the 5 series costs approximately $25-30. The total cost to build, including wood, shipping, and hardware, is estimated at $200 to $250, comparable to an industrial laptop cart. Additional ideas for expansion include a pivoting monitor arm, a shelf for holding various components, drawers for storage, a tool tray, and clear plastic sheets to enclose the sides of the cart.
