Designers developed an enormous, scale model of an Ekranoplan aircraft inspired by the large ground effect concept, created primarily to examine wing aerodynamics in this unique type. As this impressive replica features very thick wings and considerable surfaces, it can easily be reduced to a significantly smaller size and produced using an ordinary-sized 3D printer. Ground effect aircraft are substantial planes featuring tiny wings, designed specifically for low-flying, exploiting the upward thrust provided by deflected ground air - an elevated high-pressure zone below the wing that's generated through the use of specially optimized wings, similar to a hovering air cushion technology found in hovercraft. Because flat terrain is necessary for their safe operation, they are usually developed as flying boats and seaplanes.
